Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the entry of a guilty plea to an indictment before the Honorable William J. McGovern III, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on March 7, 2016, by Jonathan Barkhorn.
Barkhorn, age 31 of Sparta, pled guilty to Resisting Arrest, a fourth degree crime. Sentencing is presently anticipated for May 6, 2016.
On March 31, 2015, Sparta Township police were advised of a warrant for the defendant. Officers located Barkhorn and when he saw the patrol car, he turned around and walked away. Officers then yelled to Barkhorn to stop and that they had a warrant for his arrest. In pleading guilty, the defendant admitted to running from police officers after they ordered him to stop in an attempt to avoid arrest.
The case was investigated by Sparta Township Police Officers Morris and Lynott.
Barkhorn was represented by Leanne Healy, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Donald F. Cox, Jr.
