Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the sentencing of Mary Hess, who appeared before the Honorable William J. McGovern III, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on March 4, 2016.
Hess, age 25 of Hopatcong, was sentenced to three years of probation. She was ordered to immediately report for substance abuse treatment, complete the program, and follow after care directives. She must submit to a TASC evaluation and follow all recommendations and satisfy all outstanding P.T.I. obligations. Hess was ordered to pay fines and fees of $155 and joint and several restitution in the amount of $922.00.
Hess pled guilty on January 19, 2016, to Theft, a third degree crime. She admitted to taking jewelry valued at approximately $6,000 from her grandmother on January 24, 2013.
Hess was represented by Janine Cerra, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Donald F. Cox, Jr.
