County of Sussex Wins 2014 NACIO Award of Excellence
We are pleased to announce that the National Association of County Information Officers (NACIO) has awarded the Sussex County News email newsletter a "2014 NACIO Award of Excellence." The newsletter was rated Excellent in the e-Newsletter category.
Sussex County News, the official email newsletter of the County of Sussex, has published continuously since 2007. The newsletter, now in its eighth year, is distributed monthly on the second Tuesday to over 1,600 subscribers. We use email as the delivery mechanism, which eliminates paper, printing and postage costs. A diverse team of in-house staff from various county departments including Human Services, Health, Library, Sheriff and more meet twice monthly to set goals, gather content, edit copy and prepare for publication.
"The awards competition continually showcases the best communications and public relations projects from public information professionals throughout the country," said NACIO President Todd McGee, the Public Relations director for the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners. "I know the judges had a difficult time in selecting the winners, and that is a testament to the great work that is being done to help citizens better understand what county governments do."
The awards will be presented July 13, 2014, during the annual NACIO Awards Reception, held during the National Association of Counties (NACo) Annual Conference in New Orleans, La. Prizes were awarded in nine categories, including video, publications, electronic communications, social media, special projects and others. One Best of Class winner was chosen in each of the nine categories from more than 330 submitted entries.
The National Association of County Information Officers was formed in 1966 with the goal to bring together communications professionals who wanted to share information with other counties across the United States. For more information visit: http://www.nacio.org.
