WNNJ, WSUS and MAX 106.3 will host the sixth annual Stuff the Bus campaign against hunger in Sussex County with a variety of events taking place from November 12 through November 26, 2013.   First Hope Bank, Franklin Sussex Auto Mall and Dale’s Market will join the effort this year.  Sussex County residents can drop off non-perishable food items at the locations outlined below to replenish the food pantry shelves at the Sussex County Department of Human Services, Division of Social Services.

First Hope Bank will sell paper buses from November 12th through November 22nd to those who wish to make a donation and have their name printed on a paper bus and posted in the bank.  Donors can purchase a paper bus at any of the following First Hope Bank branches:  161 Newton-Sparta Road, Andover, NJ; 41 Route 46, Hackettstown, NJ; 201 Route 94, Blairstown, NJ; and 220 Woodport Road, Sparta, NJ.  The First Hope Bank’s collection effort will conclude on November 22nd when WNNJ will broadcast live all day at First Hope Bank’s Andover branch.  WNNJ radio talent Borasio will be on site from 6 a.m. until 12 noon, followed by Gary Cee from 12 noon to 7 p.m.  A Sussex County Skylands Ride bus will be on site at the Andover branch so people will be able to “stuff the bus” with donations to help provide food for Sussex County residents in need of assistance.

Franklin Sussex Auto Mall will host “Cram the Ram” on Saturday, the 23rd of November.  Donors can visit the dealership, which is located at 315 Route 23 North in Sussex, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. to cram a Dodge Ram with their donations.  Dale’s Market will begin accepting donations for Stuff the Bus during their hours of operation on Sunday, the 24th of November at any one of their three locations - 238 Newton-Sparta Road, Andover, NJ; 396 U.S. 206, Branchville, NJ; and 66 Route 94, Blairstown, NJ.  The Dale’s Market effort will culminate at its Andover location on the 25th and 26th of November.  WNNJ’s Borasio and WSUS’ Steve Andrews will broadcast live on site from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. on the 25th and 26th of November.  WNNJ’s Gary Cee and WSUS’ Steve Andrews will broadcast live on the 26th of November, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Over the past five years, WNNJ and WSUS have teamed up during Thanksgiving week to raise over 110,000 pounds of food and $12,551.00 in monetary donations, in addition to educating people in Sussex County about the issues of hunger in their own communities.

A host of generous donors including businesses, organizations, schools, and individuals ranging from very young children to those ninety years young have braved the cold for five years in a row to help their fellow neighbors.    Even long-term care residents of the Homestead and Bentley Assisted Living facilities, some having to use wheelchairs, walkers or canes, personally participated to make their donations.

We have been blessed with a community that gives of their time, gifts and talents to help feed their neighbors in need.  The Department of Human Services, Division of Social Services, WNNJ, WSUS and MAX 106.3 would like to thank our generous community in advance for their continued support and would like to wish everyone a blessed holiday season.

If anyone is in need of food for themselves or their family, they can stop by the Division of Social Services, located at 83 Spring Street, Newton, NJ, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
