2012 Springfest Flower and Garden Show
Release Date: March 12, 2012

2012 Springfest Flower and Garden Show
March 15-18

Although the winter of 2012 has been gentle (so far), who isn't ready for spring time? Springfest arrives in Sussex County, New Jersey on March 15 and runs through the 18th at the Sussex County Fairgrounds in Augusta. This annual event, now in its 16th year, will bring us the sweet smells of spring, beautiful gardens and lots of great lectures to get us in a planting frame of mind. The 5,000 square foot Conservatory will be filled with garden exhibits and blooming flowers. Over a dozen specially designed gardens will be situated throughout the show with flowers, waterfalls and ponds, arbors and stonework - a perfect way to get ideas for your next home project. After walking around the show, take a break and take in one (or more) of the many lectures from a comprehensive speaker list. Check the Springfest website for a full listing of all the great lecture topics - the series will include subjects ranging from foraging for wild foods, to cooking from your garden to all about birds, butterflies and dragonflies in New Jersey.

Springfest hours are 10am to 5pm daily and extended hours on Friday until 8:00 pm. Admission is $11.00 for adults, Seniors $9, (65 +, Senior day is Thursday $7) and children under 12 free (group rates are available by reservation). Check out www.springfestgardenshow.com  for more information.

Whether a beginning gardener or an expert, this show will have something for you. With 30,000 square feet chock full of garden setups, the Marketplace shops selling plants and plant supplies, educational exhibits, the Kids Plant Your Own Zone, and The Garden Café, there is plenty to enjoy at Springfest. All lectures are free of charge (with paid event admission); check the website for this year's complete listing. The educational displays always provide great handout material to get you started with your own garden or let you know about other great activities in Sussex County. Those include our own Sussex County Birding and Nature Festival and Sussex County agritourism opportunities (check www.sussexfarmvisits.com  for details on Sussex County farmers markets and farm stands opening soon).
