2012 Freeholder Reorganization

Phillip R. Crabb and Parker Space to lead Sussex County Board of Chosen Freeholders in 2012

The Sussex County Historic Court House in Newton was the setting for the Annual Reorganization Meeting of the Sussex County Board of Chosen Freeholders on Monday, January 2, 2012. Highlights of this year's Reorganization were the appointments of Phillip R. Crabb and Parker Space to serve as Director and Deputy Director, respectively, of the Freeholder Board in 2012. Director Crabb and Deputy Director Space were sworn in by the Honorable Frederic G. Weber.


Phillip R. Crabb is sworn in as Freeholder Director by Judge Frederic G. Weber.

Phillip R. Crabb was appointed to the Freeholder Board in February 2008, replacing former Freeholder Gary Chiusano after he was elected to the NJ State Assembly. Director Crabb was elected in November 2008 and re-elected in 2011. He is employed by Pfizer and resides in Franklin Borough with his wife Sally and their three children.


Parker Space is sworn in as Freeholder Deputy Director by Judge Frederic G. Weber.

Parker Space was appointed to the Freeholder Board in June 2010, replacing former Freeholder Hal Wirths after he was appointed Commissioner of the NJ Department of Labor and Workforce Development. Deputy Director Space was elected to a three year term in November 2010. He is President of Space Farms, a family-owned zoo and museum located in the Beemerville section of Wantage Township. Deputy Director Space resides in Wantage Township with his wife Jill and their three children.

The 2012 Freeholder Board also includes three returning members.

Susan Zellman was first elected to the Board in November 2000 and has served as a Freeholder since January 2001. Re-elected to a three year term in November 2009, she will begin the third year of her term. Freeholder Zellman is the Executive Director of the Housing Partnership, a United Way Agency serving Morris, Sussex, and Warren Counties. She lives in Stanhope Borough with her husband Doug.

Richard A. Zeoli, elected in November 2009, and serving on the Freeholder Board since January 2010, will begin the third year of his term. Freeholder Zeoli is the founder and President of RZC Impact, an executive communications training firm. He resides in Byram Township with his wife Brigid.

Richard A. Vohden, elected to a three year term in November 2010, will begin his second year on the Freeholder Board. Freeholder Vohden, a full-time farmer for the past 18 years, is the owner of Pequest Valley Farms in Green Township where he resides with his wife Faith.

In closing, Freeholder Director Crabb stated, "2012 will be another financially challenging year for Sussex County Government. However, this Freeholder Board will not be deterred from achieving the goals it has set in place and its ongoing mission to preserve the optimum quality of life and public services our County residents have come to enjoy and expect from their County and community. The Board remains committed to meeting these financial challenges and ensuring that the taxpayers of Sussex County continue to be first and foremost in every decision this Freeholder Board makes in 2012." Regular meetings of the Board of Chosen Freeholders are held on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month (unless otherwise noticed) at 5:00 p.m., in the Freeholder Meeting Room, Sussex County Administrative Center, One Spring Street, Newton, New Jersey. Angela Rosa is sworn in as Deputy County Clerk by Judge William J. McGovern III.


Reverend Ernest Kosa and Judge Frederic G. Weber were recognized for their years of service to Sussex County.
