Now that You have Changed Your Clocks, Check Your Emergency Stocks

Release Date: March 11, 2008
Is your emergency preparedness kit up to date?

(Newton, N.J.) When it’s time to change your clocks because of daylight saving time, remember to check your preparedness kit to make sure your emergency stockpile is not missing any items and that the food has not expired. If you have not created a stockpile yet, now is the time to create one!

Be sure that you have at least a three-day supply of bottled water, non-perishable foods and essential medications set aside for each member of your family and your pets. (And as always, don’t forget to check the batteries in your smoke alarms!) As we eagerly prepare for the arrival of spring, make sure you and your loved ones are prepared for a public health emergency or disaster. More information can be attained at www.sussex.nj.us/health or by attending an emergency preparedness course at the Sussex County Community College offered at no charge by the Sussex County Division of Health. Contact Kristin Brown, Health Educator at (973) 579-0370 ext 1243 for more details.
