RICHARD A. VOHDEN
Green Township
Freeholder Vohden was sworn in as a first term member of the Board of Chosen Freeholders in January, 2011. Rich has three grown children and has been together with his wife Faith for over 30 years.
Freeholder Vohden has been farming in Green Township since 1983, full time for the past 18 years, raising raspberries, asparagus and poultry.
Prior to farming, Freeholder Vohden worked in the construction industry for 35 years, the last 17 years managing a large commercial subcontracting company.
Freeholder Vohden is serving his 16th year as Chairman of the Green Township Environmental Commission. He was a member of the Green Township Planning Board for 15 years and a member and past Chairman of the Green Township Open Space Committee. He served for 7 years as Chairman of the Sussex County Open Space Committee, 7 years as a member and past Chairman of the Sussex County Planning Board, and as a member of the County Strategic Growth Committee, and was First Vice Chairman of the Sussex County Republican Committee for 2009-2010. Freeholder Vohden was recently appointed as a member of the New Jersey Highlands Council.
Freeholder Vohden is a Veteran, having served in Korea. He is a member of the VFW, the Sons of the American Revolution, Green Historical Society, NJ Farm Bureau, NJ Forestry Association, ANJEC, NRA, and NJLM. He is active in the agricultural community and is a Boy Scout Merit Badge Counselor.
