Press Release - Sentencing of James Dunnigan

Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the sentencing of James Dunnigan, who appeared before the Honorable William J. McGovern, III, J.S.C. at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on June 10, 2016.

Dunnigan, age 47, of Newton, was sentenced to 180 days, without early release, in the Keogh-Dwyer Correctional Facility and ten (10) years driver’s license suspension.  He was also sentenced to 180 days in KCDF to run concurrent for his DWI charge and 2 additional years driver’s license suspension to run consecutively.  Dunnigan must also submit a DNA sample, complete 30 days of community service and pay $2,972.00 in court fines and fees.

He pled guilty on April 11, 2016, to Driving While Suspended for a Second or Subsequent DWI, a crime of the fourth degree.  He also pled guilty to several motor vehicle violations including DWI and driving an Uninsured and Unregistered Vehicle.

In 2015 the defendant was found to be driving while his license was suspended for a second or subsequent DWI and was also driving while intoxicated when he was pulled over by Hopatcong Police.

Dunnigan was represented by David Nufrio, Esq. and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Donald C. Cox, Jr.
