Wanted: Teens in the Library!

The Sussex County Library System wants to invite teens to "check us out." Services and programs for this group are increasing. Whether it's the latest book, a great program, or the next chance to get together, we have it!

Our services to teens may all be found during a visit to our website, www.sussexcountylibrary.org. With a library card, teens may place holds on and borrow books, DVDs, videogames, music CDs, audiobooks, and magazines. A library card also allows access to free downloadable e-books and audiobooks as well as many free databases. While all of our branches serve those with special needs, the Main Library is a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Regional Resource Center. JAWS software for the blind and visually impaired is available at the Main Library and the Dennis branch.

A survey of our website's Teens Programs Calendar will quickly show you our many options for gathering and having fun. Throughout the year we plan events such as concerts, visiting authors, workshops, book parties, and more. The Main Library has monthly teen meetings of the Just Us Teens Book Club and the SCLS Animanga Club. Every Wednesday from 3:30 to 5 PM, the meeting room at the Main Library is reserved for teens who want to play on our Wii system, play board games, eat snacks while they do their homework, play music, watch a movie, or just hang out. We even have a free wireless connection for your lap top.

Want to find out about the latest event or service? The Main Library and the Dorothy Henry branch both have Facebook pages. Click on "Teen Blog" on our website for weekly updates. Give us your e-mail address and we'll let you know about upcoming events, reminders to return materials, and other notices. We want to hear from you, too! Post comments on the Teen Blog. Call Ms. Sebastian, Youth Services Librarian, at 973-948-3660, ext. 3416 or e-mail her at dsebastian@sussexcountylibrary.org. She wants to know make SCLS libraries YOUR libraries.
