Seniors Cautioned to BE WISE ABOUT MEDICATIONS!

 

The Sussex County Division of Senior Services and the Sussex County Municipal Alliance are sponsoring a seminar for senior citizens entitled “Be Wise About Your Medications.”  The event will take place on Thursday, September 13, 2007 from 8am to 1 pm at the Farmstead Golf & Country Club, 88 Lawrence Road, Newton (Andover Township), NJ.   Educational and informational programs include: “Safe Medication Use” presented by Linda Witzal, Registered Pharmacist; “Food, Nutritional Supplements and Medication Effectiveness”  presented by Christine Orr, Registered Dietitian; “Medication, Alcohol and Driving Skills” presented by representatives from the Sussex County Sheriff’s Department;  “Medications & Products in Your Home that Can Put Kids at Risk” presented by Becky Carlson, Director of Prevention Services and Tina Thompson, Senior Sense Coordinator from the Center for Prevention and Counseling; and “Paying for Prescriptions:  Medicare Part D, Pharmaceutical Assistance to the Aged and Disabled (PAAD), and Senior Gold” presented by Ann Farnsworth, State Health Insurance Program (SHIP) Coordinator, and Kathy Switzer, District Manager for the Social Services Administration.  The program includes a full buffet breakfast, informational exhibits, promotional give-a-ways and door prizes.  The fee is $5.00 per person.  For additional information or to obtain a seminar brochure / registration form, contact the Sussex County Division of Senior Services at 973-579-0555.
