The Sussex County Division of Social Services is moving to a new location.
After more than 60 years at 18 Church Street, Newton, Social Services is moving 2 blocks to 83 Spring Street, Newton. The new Social Service location is the former Shelby’s department store location.
The move will begin on Thursday June 29th, and completed by July 5th.
The new location will offer the public private interviews, and a larger, more comfortable reception area.
Our phone number (973.383.3600) will not change.
Note: The new voice mail system has 4 digit extensions, not 3. To contact a specific staff member directly, enter a ‘5’ plus the old 3 digit extension.
The fax number remains the same (973.383.3627), as does the mailing address (PO Box 218, Newton NJ 07860-0218
The building is completely handicapped accessible with both a ramp, and an elevator. You can enter from Spring Street, but the most direct entrance is from the parking lot behind the building on Trinity Street.

Free parking, space available:
Visitors’ spaces at the nearby Sussex County Administrative Center,
