May Events at the Sussex County Libraries
Newton, NJ - There is a lot to do in May through the Sussex County Library System. From May 4-9 the SCLS will celebrate Children's Book Week with story times at Sussex-Wantage, Dorothy Henry, Franklin and Main Libraries and displays at all Branches. On May 4 at 6:00 p.m. the Dennis Branch in Newton will also be hosting Read-to-a-Dog, a special program that invites children ages 5-10 to improve reading skills and confidence by reading aloud to a certified therapy dog or Seeing Eye puppy.
Popular programs continue their monthly meetings. LEGO Club now meets at four locations: Sussex-Wantage, Louise Childs, Franklin and Main Library. Minecraft Club has been expanded to encompass information and demonstrations on the latest software and apps. Kids in grades 4 and up are invited to the Main Library the first Wednesday of each month at 4:00 p.m., and to the Louise Childs Branch the second Wednesday of each month at 3:30 p.m. to find out what's new. The SCLS also continues to host the American Girl Club, Onigiri Animanga Club, various adult book clubs and R.E.A.D. (Reading Excites Average Days) for ages 8-11.
Newer programs include a Makerspace Night from 4:00-7:00 the third Wednesday of each month at the Sussex-Wantage Branch; and Advice for Your Device, an opportunity to learn more about downloading eBooks and audiobooks from the SCLS website to all styles of eReaders, tablets and mobile phones, the first Wednesday evening and Saturday afternoon of each month.
