Celebrate Children's Magazine Month this October

Newton, NJ - Celebrate Children's Magazine Month this October by checking out the titles available through the Sussex County Library System. From American Girl to Zoobooks, the SCLS offers a variety of titles aimed at young readers and all but the current issues can be checked out to read at home.

October also marks the return of the SCLS Mock Caldecott Medal Election and Design Contest. The Caldecott Medal is awarded annually to the illustrator of the most "distinguished" picture book of the year. The SCLS Mock Election will allow kids to see how their votes align with the judges' choices and the Design Contest invites kids to redesign the Caldecott Medal which remains unchanged since first being awarded in 1937. The Mock Election will be held through the Children's Page at www.sussexcountylibrary.org external link. Design Contest Entry Forms will be available at every branch beginning October 1st and are due back by November 15th. The winner will be announced at a "red carpet" event in January.
