Sussex County Hosts First Annual
"Project Community Connect"
"I don't have enough food to feed my family. Where are the food pantries?"
"I have to go to the doctor, but I don't have health insurance. What do I do?"
On Tuesday, September 17, 2013, Sussex County residents are invited to participate in "Project Community Connect," an event planned to answer questions related to benefits, healthcare, children's services, employment, housing, food, legal information, transportation, utilities and wellness. The event will be held at two locations, simultaneously: Manna House, 54 High Street, Newton, NJ and Harvest House, 1 Hamburg Avenue, Sussex, NJ. Lunch and dinner will be provided free of charge in both locations. Hours of the event will be from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
"Beginning October 1, 2013, there is the opportunity for individuals to apply and enroll in health coverage through the health insurance Marketplace. The Marketplace is a new opportunity to compare insurance options, determine if you can lower your current insurance cost or get free or low cost coverage. Anyone interested in health insurance coverage should visit www.sussex.nj.us/humanservices for details on exploring options, reviewing the enrollment process and to sign up," said Stephen Gruchacz, Administrator for the Sussex County Department of Human Services.
This event is an excellent chance to connect with services provided in the community. A variety of health and dental screenings will be available, and haircuts will be provided free of charge. There will also be a chance to win some great prizes. Agency representatives will be on hand to answer questions and provide information on available services. There will be representation from the following human service agencies: Family Promise of Sussex County, NORWESCAP, Samaritan Inn, Sussex County Division of Social Services, Newton Medical Center, and the Center for Prevention and Counseling, among others.
This event is being sponsored by the Sussex County Coordination Committee, a subcommittee of the Sussex County Human Services Advisory Council. For more information, please call Christine Florio at 973-948-6000 extension 1381 or email email@example.com.
