Fall Prevention Awareness Day at Lafayette House
September 22 - 28, 2012, has been designated "Fall Prevention Awareness Week" in New Jersey. Approximately one-third of adults age 65 and older fall each year. Close to one-third of falls in older adults result in serious injury such as hip fracture or head injury. The majority of falls in older adults occur in the home. Falls can be prevented. Learn how by joining the Sussex County Department of Human Services, Division of Senior Services for Fall Prevention Awareness Day, at the Lafayette House, on Thursday, September 20, 2012, from 9 a.m. -12 p.m. This special event will include the premiere presentation of a HealthEASE educational program entitled "Standing Tall Against Falls." Also included will be an overview of the award-winning "A Matter of Balance: Managing Concerns About Falls." Attendees will hear success stories from "graduates" of the eight-week workshop series and have the opportunity to sign-up for future workshops.
Fall Prevention Awareness Day includes a full breakfast buffet and is offered at the low cost of $5.00 per person. PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.
