Guidelines for Proper Disposal of Household Medication
Release Date: November 01, 2010

Guidelines for Proper Disposal of Household Medication

Over the counter and prescription medications should not be disposed down the drain because waste-water treatment systems (private and public) are not designed to remove pharmaceutical compounds and they may end up in your local waterways, and may eventually be found in drinking water.

Please review the Guidelines for Proper Disposal of Household Medication issued by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.

Do NOT dispose of medication down the drain or toilet.
