Summer Reading Club at the Sussex County Library
Release Date: May 03, 2010

The Sussex County Library will be providing a free, fun-filled Summer Reading Club again this year! The annual club is a great time for every member of the family and it is the highlight of our summer programming. Opening Day is Monday, June 28th and special events are planned for all libraries. The Club runs for five weeks.

For children ages six months through those children entering grade six, the theme is "Make a Splash @ your library." For teens entering grades 7 - 12, the theme is "Make Waves @ your library." For adults the theme is "Water Your Mind: Read." Kids and teens are only required to read one book in order to receive a prize at the end of the summer. Programs and activities related to the many facets of water will be highlighted.

There will be weekly Make a Splash programs for children entering grades kindergarten through grade 6, at every library. These programs will include books, games, a craft, and other activities. One Preschool Story Time will be offered at the Main Library each week. Special events include Rizzo's Reptiles, Scales-n-Tales, Great Scott Magic, Nina's music, and more. Registration for these programs begins Monday, June 14.

Teens may volunteer to help with children's programs as well as programs planned just for teens. The programs planned for teens include the Just Us Teens Book Club, Teen Wii Got Game Saturdays, a Twilight Saga party, and more.

Many adult programs such as Yoga, Writer's Group, Knitting & Crocheting are planned as well as family programs such as Family Karaoke Night, Family Wii Night, concerts, and more.

Registration for the Summer Reading Club begins June 28th for every member of the family. Register by calling the branch you want to attend. Children need to register for each week separately as space is limited. As always, siblings are welcome to attend programs as long as there is room. See our web site (www.sussexcountylibrary.org) for more details and up-to-date programming information, or call 973-948-3660 and talk to the Adult or Youth Services Departments for additional information.
