Seniors will not want to miss this year’s Senior Day at the New Jersey State Fair that will take place on Thursday, August 6, 2009 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Tent. As they reminisce about the Big Band Era, participants will enjoy dancing and listening to the music of many talented entertainers including “Noteworthy,” and vocalists Jan Jorritsma and April Fisher. David Cross will offer dance lessons to attendees.
The day includes a continental breakfast, door prizes, and informational exhibits of senior interest including promotional give-a-ways. This year, there will also be a Food Drive to help stock the Social Services Food Pantry. Seniors who donate a food item will be entered in a drawing to win a $50 Walmart gift card.
Nominees for the Sussex County “Senior of the Year” will be recognized and the “Senior of the Year” award will be presented during the festivities. The event will culminate with the presentation of Sussex County Skylands Ride’s “Bus Driver Safety” Awards. Senior Day at the NJ State Fair, presented by the Sussex County Division of Senior Services, is sponsored by Bristol Glen, Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home and Newton Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
