and Other Local Food Pantries

*** Invitation ***

The Greater Newton Chamber of Commerce will be hosting Sweet Harvest Collection at its Sweetest Day Spring Street, Newton event on Saturday, October 18, 2008.  While celebrating all things sweet, the day will encourage kindness towards others in our area. The celebration will kick-off at 12:00 noon on Spring Street with Town Crier, Bill Joseph, announcing the day's events.

The Sweet Harvest Collection will be located at Feels Like Home, 185 Spring Street, Newton.  Attendees may donate food or personal products during the celebration.  Donations will benefit the food pantry of the Sussex County Division of Social Services, as well as other local pantries.  Some requested items include canned meats, tuna fish, fruit juices, nonperishable milk, peanut butter, jelly, breakfast cereals, and soups.  Personal products such as toilet tissue, paper towels, soap and other personal care items are welcome.

There will be a Bark & Purr Pet Pantry located at Maxwell & Molly's Closet, 218 Spring Street, Newton.  During the celebration, attendees may donate unopened pet food and supplies for local pantries and shelters.

Other Sweetest Day events include a baking contest, performances by the High Point Harmonizers and a Kindness Recognition ceremony.
